Restore Files with X Cloud (From Hot and Cold Storage)

Restoring files is a critical part of data management, ensuring your information remains protected and recoverable when needed. Whether your files are stored in Hot Storage for instant access or in ❄ Cold Storage for long-term archiving, X Cloud provides fast, efficient, and flexible restoration options to match your needs.


File Restoration Options with X Cloud

Restoring Files via X Cloud Restore Desktop Application

📌 Before You Start:
⚠ Ensure your computer's power settings prevent interruptions.
⚠ Do not log out, restart, or shut down your device during restoration.
Restoration from ❄ Cold Storage takes 3-12 hours to initiate.

Step 1: Open the X Cloud Restore Application

  • Launch the X Cloud Desktop Application.
  • Click Restore to open the X Cloud Restore tool.

📌 If X Cloud is not installed, follow the installation guide.

Step 2: Select Your Backup Files

  • Click Files in the restore window.
  • Use the Computer Name drop-down menu to select the backup source.

Step 3: Choose Files to Restore

  • Select the desired files or folders from the left panel.
  • Click the Add icon to move them to the right panel.
  • Click Next to continue.

📌 Cold Storage Data: Files stored in ❄ Cold Storage will appear in a Cold Storage folder.

  • Enable Show/Restore Deleted Files to include deleted items.
  • Set restore options, including:
    Restore to an alternative location
    Restore a specific version using date range settings

Step 4: Start the Restore Process

  • Click Next to begin restoration.

🚀 Important:

  • Keep your computer powered on during the process.
  • Once files are ready, they will download automatically.
  • You may minimize or close the X Cloud Restore window without affecting progress.

Downloading Files via X Cloud Web Console

💡 Best for restoring a few files at a time.
📌 For larger downloads, use the X Cloud Restore desktop application.

Step 1: Sign in to the X Cloud Web Console

  • Log in to your X Cloud Web Console.

Step 2: Navigate to the Discover Page

  • Click Discover from the left-side menu.

Step 3: Locate Your Backup Data

  • Under Devices & Services, select the device or service containing the file.

Step 4: Select the File for Download

  • Browse for the data you want to restore.
  • A ❄ snowflake icon indicates files stored in Cold Storage.
  • Enable Include Deleted Files to restore deleted data.

Step 5: Download the File

  • Select the file(s) or folder(s) and click the Download icon.

📌 Download Timeframes:
Hot Storage: Downloads start immediately.
Cold Storage: X Cloud will prepare the file, and within 3-12 hours, you'll receive an email with a download link.

🎥 For media files (photos, videos, audio) stored in Cold Storage:

  • Choose between downloading the original version or an optimized version (immediate download with reduced quality).
