View and Restore Older Versions of Files with X Cloud (Single Files and Entire Folders)

Introduction

File restoration is a crucial aspect of data security and management, allowing users to recover previous versions of files and restore deleted data when needed.

With X Cloud's advanced incremental backup system and multi-version storage, you can:
✅ Restore the latest version of a backed-up file.
✅ Restore older versions of files to a specific point in time.
✅ Restore deleted files from your backup history.
✅ Restore files on a new device without initiating a backup.
✅ Restore files directly on a smartphone.
✅ Perform remote restoration of data.

Restoring Older File Versions via X Cloud Restore Desktop Application

📌 Before You Start:
⚠ Ensure your computer's power settings prevent interruptions.
⚠ Do not log out, restart, or shut down your device during the restore process.
Restoration from ❄ Cold Storage requires 3-12 hours to initiate.


Step 1: Open X Cloud Restore

  • Launch the X Cloud Desktop Application.
  • Click Restore to open the X Cloud Restore tool.

📌 If X Cloud is not installed, follow the installation guide.

Step 2: Select Backup Files

  • Click Files in the restore window.
  • Use the Computer Name drop-down menu to select the backup source.

Step 3: Restore a Previous Version of a File

  • Click the Show Versions option next to the file name.
  • A pop-up window will display all available versions.
  • Select the desired version and click Save.
  • Choose a restore location and confirm the restore.

Step 4: Restore Older Versions of Files from a Folder

  • Select the folder from the left panel.
  • Click Add to move it to the right panel.
  • Click Next to continue.

📌 Cold Storage Data: Files stored in ❄ Cold Storage will appear in a designated Cold Storage folder.

  • Enable Show/Restore Deleted Files to include deleted items.
  • Select Restore to an alternative location and browse for a destination.
  • Under Restore date range, enable Restore files within a specified date range and configure the settings.
  • Click Next to begin restoration.

🚀 Important:

  • Keep your computer powered on during restoration.
  • Files will download automatically once they are ready.
  • You may minimize or close the X Cloud Restore window without affecting progress.

Downloading an Older File Version via X Cloud Web Console

💡 This method is ideal for restoring individual files. For full folder restoration, use the X Cloud Restore desktop application.

Step 1: Sign in to X Cloud Web Console

  • Log in to your X Cloud Web Console.

Step 2: Access the Discover Page

  • Click Discover from the left-side menu.

Step 3: Locate Your Backup

  • Under Devices & Services, select the device or service containing the file.

Step 4: Select the File & View Versions

  • Browse and select the file you want to restore.
  • Click the Information icon or right-click and select Show Versions.

📌 Cold Storage Data: Files stored in ❄ Cold Storage will appear in a Cold Storage folder.

  • Enable Show/Restore Deleted Files to include deleted files.

Step 5: Download the File

  • In the Versions tab, click Download next to the desired version.

📌 Download Timeframes:
Hot Storage: Downloads start immediately.
Cold Storage: X Cloud will prepare the file, and within 3-12 hours, you'll receive an email with a download link.

🎥 For media files (photos, videos, audio) stored in Cold Storage:

  • Choose between downloading the original version or an optimized version (immediate download with reduced quality).
