Remote Restore with X Cloud

Introduction

With X Cloud, administrators can remotely initiate a data restoration request from any machine using the X Cloud Web Console. This feature enhances efficiency and flexibility, allowing data recovery without physical access to the user’s device.


How to Initiate a Remote Restore Request

Step 1: Sign in to X Cloud Web Console

  • Log in as an administrator.

Step 2: Navigate to the Discover Page

  • From the left-side menu, click Discover.

Step 3: Change User (If Needed)

  • Click the Actions icon (upper-right corner of the left panel).
  • Select Change User.

Step 4: Select the User’s Backup Data

  • In the Change User dialog box, select the user whose data you want to restore.
  • Click OK.
  • If the user has multiple devices backed up, choose the specific device from the left panel to view its data.

Step 5: Select Data for Restoration

  • Right-click the files or folders you wish to restore.
  • Select Remote Restore.

Step 6: Configure Restore Options

In the Remote Restore Options window:
✅ Select the restore location (the X Cloud Desktop Application must be installed on the target computer).
✅ Enable multi-threaded download for faster recovery (optional).
✅ Specify a date range if you want to restore from a specific backup.
✅ Choose whether to overwrite existing files or keep both versions.

  • Click OK to proceed.

Step 7: Start the Restoration Process

After approximately 15 minutes, the X Cloud Restore desktop application will launch on the target computer, and the restore process will begin automatically.

Step 8: Ensure Uninterrupted Restoration

💡 Important:

  • Ensure the target computer’s power settings prevent sleep or shutdown.
  • Do not log out, restart, or shut down the device until the restore is complete.
  • Restoration from ❄ Cold Storage requires 3-12 hours to commence.
