Add a Server to a X Cloud Account

Introduction

With X Cloud, you can securely back up data from Windows Servers, ensuring protection, accessibility, and seamless data recovery. To begin, the server must be added to an X Cloud account and meet the required system prerequisites.


How to Add a Windows Server to X Cloud

Step 1: Sign in to Your X Cloud Account

  • On the target server, log in to the X Cloud account where you want to add the server.
  • 📌 New user? Sign up for a free trial to get started.

Step 2: Access the Users / Servers Section

  • From the left menu, select Users / Servers.

Step 3: Add the Server

  • Click Add Server to open the server registration page.

Step 4: Assign a User & Configure Settings

  • From the User drop-down menu, select the administrator responsible for managing this server's backup.
  • (Optional) Set Storage & OCR limits and apply a backup policy if required.
  • Click Add Server to proceed.

Step 5: Download & Copy the Activation Token

  • In the Add Server Completed pop-up, copy the provided Activation Token.
  • Click Proceed with Download Setup to download the X Cloud setup file (.EXE) for the server.

Step 6: Install X Cloud on the Server

  • Run the downloaded setup file and install the X Cloud desktop application on the server.

Important: During installation, you will be prompted to authenticate with Windows credentials:

  • Enter the Windows username and password of the Administrator profile.
  • If the profile is part of a domain, enter credentials as:
    DomainName\Username

Failure to authenticate will prevent X Cloud from performing backups.

Step 7: Activate the Server in X Cloud

  • Open X Cloud on the server.
  • Log in using the X Cloud credentials of the user assigned in Step 4.
  • Enter the Activation Token copied in Step 5 to complete authentication.

Step 8: Configure Backup Settings (If Not Pre-Assigned)

  • If no backup policy was assigned in Step 4, configure the backup settings directly in X Cloud.

🚀 Once setup is complete, X Cloud will begin backing up the selected server data to the cloud, ensuring secure storage and accessibility under the assigned user’s profile.
